Brutality will become famous soon enough

Opera and mIRC ain't getting along friendly.

So, I had 3 best friends: Windows XP Pro, Opera and mIRC. All of us got along very well and life was beautiful. Suddenly Windows XP Pro got sick and died, so I had to find a new friend. I've had my eye on a female called Windows Vista Ultimate, so I made acquintances with her. She also had a friend called Internet Explorer 7( nasty b*tch ) and she dragged her friend to my PC. So, now, Opera and mIRC suddenly turned against each other. It seems that IE7 is hitting on mIRC and mIRC likes it a lot. So, mIRC is now ignoring Opera and all links sent in IRC channels are now opened by IE7. mIRC totally refuses to co-operate with Opera and that's sad. I already told IE7 she can't have any rights opening my links but she still refuses to comply. Now I'm sad, Opera is sad and life isn't so beautiful anymore. Please, DH guys, helpz0r me out.

I think this is a scheme perpetrated by your new friend Windows Vista. She poisoned XP and is secretly having orgies with mIRC. Opera is being picked on because he's special and has bad tastes in clothing. To resolve the situation I recommend 2 doses of rat poison, one for Vista and one for her friend IE7. After that, I recommend a thorough cleaning of the base of operations and patch things up with your old friend XP. Happily ever after with blooming flowers and unicorns.

Reality: No freaking idea. good luck man.

Did you install Opera from the MSI installer, selected to associate with the appropriate files and protocols on install?

If not, you can just install using the MSI installer over your current install, and it will keep all of your settings.

.msi installer? I downloaded the .exe from opera.com and installed with that. It appears to be the same as .msi installer thogh. I even tried reinstall. The fact is that I defaulted Opera for EVERY protocol and i took access from IE. That beyotch is still hitting on mIRC. MSN likes Opera.
I'll try how Firefox makes friend with mIRC: They once got along pretty well

Hmm. It seems that mIRC ain't that friendly with Firefox either. I guess Vista and IE7 are 2 evil biyotches that want to frustrate me and make me lose my best friend. I WONT LET THAT HAPPEN!!! Other that that, Vista is sexy . I kinda like it.

Damn, still nothing. I guess I'll have to accept that mIRC is ignoring Opera.

But now I'd like to know: How to get Task Manager to open when i press ctrl+alt+del. If I press CAD, it opens up some screen with options to lock PC, log out and open Task Manager. I want to skip that straight to Task Manager. I remember I had same thing on my XP but I was able to fix that. Can't find any clues in Vista.

From XP onwards, I started just using ctrl+shift+escape to open the task manager.

Not sure about the default browser thing, I've got the same problem with Trillian, it refuses to use anything other than IE for links, although Miranda and Pidgin work fine.
