Is it me or is Vista buggy....
as hell?I havent updated my gaming rigs to Vista yet but I built my wife and kids a "family rig"....NOBODY touches my gaming rigs but me.My wife tried last year and she came upstairs saying "the computer keeps dieing on me".....well,I came downstairs to my office and low and behold, bless her heart she had not cut the water flow on for the CPU cooler. It was heating up on her and cutting off....she does not touch it any more. Anyways, back on topic.Vista seems to be to be "quirky"...?????

I don't know how the computer is configured, however I'm running two Vista Ultimate boxes, one X64 and one X32 without issues. One has an X1950GT (HTPC) and the gaming rig has an 8800GTS. They run for extended periods of time without any cutoffs.

Vista is as buggy as Windows XP with SP1 slipstreamed, not all that bad, i'm sure the SP1 for vista will surely improve things, but as it stands, vista is fairly solid imo.

well my short answer would be "its just you".
however your post doesnt contain any info on your problems, more a look back in time at another situation. share some info if you want answers man. Judas incidentally that post makes absolutely no sense at all, I have no idea what you are trying to say. It is buggy like XP SP1? or XP SP1 is pretty good and vista is too? |

sorry, i had started posting, typing up, and i was interupted about 6 times lol. I ment to say that Vista's no more buggy (better or worse) then when Windows XP SP1 was released, which imo, is what most if not alot of people said the way XP should have been released in the first place, so pretty good. hawgs, the last news tidbit i heard was Beta end of 2007, official mid 2008

Well I kind of agree and disagree because when I first installed it I figured it would have a few major bugs or problems but it actually initially felt solid and stable.
But I found that some websites I could not stream videos from Internet Explorer so I used firefox, but then I found some sites that wouldnt work with Firefox and each time I would update my flash player but nothing seemed to work. The only other problem I had with Vista was all my computer games ran at least 40-50 fps slower, which I could not stand (back on XP for the time being) and sometimes after 20mins when my monitor hibernated I would comeback onto the desktop and all my current windows on the taskbar would overlap one another, which I then had to Ctrl+ALt+Del to log off and then log back in. Other than those few minor issues I find the 6 month old OS pretty decent. But really fix the game issues! It's supposed to be a gaming platform and it kills me when I can hardly play any on medium settings!

Vista was a little rough at launch due to crappy drivers but today I'll take it over XP without second thought. Still, depending on your hardware/drivers there might be some kinks that still need to be ironed out.
I haven't tried BiA on Vista but a fully updated Stalker should run just fine

I have it it running 24/7 except for an occassional reboot for updates or installs with no problems. Running Vista Home Premium x64. Getting ready to change the gaming system over to Ultimate. But what problems are you having, hard to help when we don't know all the info.

With nvidia you must have atleast 158.24 or better. If you do the FPS are comparable to XP. The other trick is look at turning off stuff you do not use. Make sure when you game to turn off side bar as it is a system hog. If you want more then that then google Vista peformance tweeks and you will find alot.
Vista is very solid if you do not .... mess the wrong thing up. When i play stalker i get great FPS on my system. Make sure it is updated to latest version of stalker and make sure you have the latest ati or nvidia drivers. |
