No Start Menu and Right-Click disabled.
i upgraded to vista from windows xp and when the installation was complete, start up would not show anything at all(no start menu, etc). It would only show a window that you can access from. Also, right-click won't work. Have any of you guys got a solution for this??
BTW, it is vista ultimate. It is also a OEM version. Thanks. |

Did you actually run the upgrade, or was it a clean install? Typically if this happens on an upgrade, it means the upgrade failed and you have to do a full reinstall to get it working again. Usually the first sign of failure with an upgrade is when it goes to start the first time and it doesn't work right.

so basically a full re-install (removing all files) would be suitable?

Correct. You can still recover your documents, but you need to do a clean reinstall of the operating system.

Yes, just hit up nvidia.com for drivers, they'll cover your video card, motherboard and onboard sound.

nforce drivers will cover your chipset (if you're using the motherboard in your profile) and onboard sound.
I've got nearly the same motherboard, using the 15.00 drivers with Vista 64-bit.

lol it is not for my computer sorry :P. but anyways, when you installed vista ultimate, did you upgrade or do a clean install? if a clean install, did you have to install all drivers manually, and if you upgraded, was it successful?

Wireless Not Detected!
I have installed windows vista ultimate from windows xp on ANOTHER computer, and tried to access the internet. I tried to search for devices and it had detected 1, but as soon as i click to connect, it cannot connect whatsoever. The sound is also disabled. I cannot get any drivers from the internet also(cannot detect wireless). Do i have to install a CD from my internet company to get it up and running?

I've merged these threads since they asked the same question.
You need to find out how the manufacture is for the wireless, and sound then download the drivers w/ another computer. |
