Card readers that work with Vista
Anyone know any XD-capable card readers that work with Vista? I've tried 2 separate card readers, and Vista fails to correctly identify either one.

Unsure if you found something already, as well as if you're looking for either internal/external.
Best one I've come across that works flawless, is the Atech XM-4U internal USB 2.0 11 in 1 reader. Check it out here Supports pretty much everything (comapct flash type I and II, Microdrive, Secure digital, Multimediacard, Memory stick, MS pro, Magicgate MS, Smartmedia and xD), comes with two front bezels (black or silver) adds a USB port up front (if your case doesn't have one already) and is fairly CHEAP in cost ($20 if not less), but NOT in quality! (made solid) I've been using mine (I have a few actually) with Vista x32 AND x64 no problems at all.

An external one I sell the is from a generic company called Acrox, and they list the model as CRE. It's an all-in-one reader, and supports xD. Damn cheap, but really good. I've used it on Vista with no problems (Vista sees it as a Generic reader).
Internal... that's a bit tricky. The most compatible ones seem to be the name brand ones, like Mitsumi (if I remember correctly their floppy/card reader comob work, but it doesn't have xD). I have another one here from SohoUSB that says it's compatible with Vista, but I've yet to try it out to be sure. I'll have to get back to you on that one. |
