Compaq nx 7300 + Vista Ultimate " NEED HELP"

Hello everyone,
I have got this two weeks old laptop .. and I had a pre-installed Windows Vista Home Basic on it .. I have upgraded it to Ultimate version .. using the upgrade option of Vista DVD.
My problem, comes over here.. I have no sound comes out of my computer .. I have tried ALL the drivers tha listed in HP website - all of them. My soundcard is SOUNDMAX .. does anyone have any clue about this ?
