vista installs drivers over old ones

I am having this really annoying problem with the drivers for my wireless pci-card and my onboard sound card. vista keeps reinstalling the drivers almost everytime i boot it - and this is not an update or something, it's the exact same driver files.
is there any way to prevent vista from auto installing drivers for new hardware? or does someone have any clue why this happens?

specs: wlan - Gigabyte GN-WP01GS | sound - onboard asus P5VD-MX

no solution yet, but they're trying to get asus to come up with a bios update to sort the error out.. seems the problem is with via chipset and not drivers, like i thought
