No NCQ in Vista...
Ok I have two Seagates Barracudas that support NCQ. And it worked in XP. But when I moved to Vista it seems that it's no longer in use. Did some googling and didn't found anything useful about this issue. My nForce 4 Ultra should be able to support the feature but is this just driver bug?

They've probably not added support for it in the Vista driver. It's no real loss for a non-fileserver system.

i think i may turn on the MAXIMUM performance options in the device manager (that state the a backup power supply is REQUIRED)... see what happens
![]() i agree with MKK though, i don't think nvidia have actually gotten a driver to fully support NCQ just yet.

while i to get irritated when things dont work properly(think my wife uses the word 'anal
), as stated above, you do not need/want ncq unles you are running a dedicated server. saying it another way, using ncq other than what is was intended(high server traffic)does NOT give you optimal performance. in fact it can actually decrease performance(though i am not sure that this is perceived in actual real world use) for desktop use.
