I have this new system (stated to the left). It doesn't have an OS on it so I want to do a clean install of Vista HP x86. Before trying to install Vista I made an attempt to install XP MCE which crashed telling me that it couldn't find drivers for my CD/DVD. I had by that point (obviously) already partitioned the HDD (320GB) into 3 parts. When coming to try and install XP again, it would only recognise that there was 1 partition of 100GB. This was a little annoying so I thought I'd format this and then try to install Vista. Next up I tried to install Vista HP x86. I could select the one I had but then, when asked to select where to install it, it said "no drives found" and asked me to ensure correct drivers were installed. A little confused I thought that I would have to have the OS installed before installing new drivers. Is there any help that any of you fine people out there can offer me? Are you running raid? or a specialized Hard drive conroller? You may have to provide the driver prior to install like with XP and vista i had to do the same with my intel raid controler.

In your BIOS is it set to AHCI or IDE under HDD Config? If its SATA, you need the drivers to run SATA on the desired South Bridge....if it is of Intel origin you need Intel AHCI drivers, and same for other south bridge providers, as well as SATA and RAID chips.....

#I checked the BIOS and it had IDE Configuration not HDD Config. It also had my 320GB SATA drive detected within it.# i checked out the specs on the ASRock website and southbridge is Intel ICH7, Northbridge is 945GC A2 so this makes me believe this is part of the 945 Chipset Family. So if I download the drivers for 945 Chipset will this allow me to actually install my OS? also which version of the Chipset drivers do I download? I'm having trouble working out exactly which set I need to get. the exact spec of my mobo is here: http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.as...20R1.0&s=Intel I really appreciate any help that you can offer as I'm getting really frustrated and the company I bought the system off aren't being much help.
