Can my laptop run Aero? (specs below)

I wonder if i should go vista just for the fuck of it... because the ONLY reason I will go to it, is for its pretty GUI. And if it aint aero, then I won't bother at all..

Not efficiently and unsluggish...no, in fact it might not even run at all.

Not to mention with service tweaking without aero you can get vista down to 500mb used. However with aero on and all effects its more like 1-1.2GB so I would highly advise you not to run AERO on that laptop not to mention AERO is 3d accelerated, and the onboard video might not be able to handle it.

Umm, what? Ok, the onboard video, yes, it very likely won't be enough, but he has plenty of RAM for Vista. I run Vista, currently have Aero on as well as running Firefox and Yahoo Messenger and antivirus and my memory usage is at around 780MB, not 1-1.2 GB, and I'm sure some of that 780MB is from the Superfetching, which is very low priority anyways.. The only thing that'll hold his system back from having Aero active is that onboard video.

yeah i got confused with what chaos said as well lol..

I might try run the XGL gentoo livecd and see if that will run... because the video IS running off the pcie bus..

As far as i recall, the onboard Intel 945 Chipset is incapable of the minimum requirements besides the available memory, of running aero.... It just doesn't have the features.

Mmmm failed to clarify the 1-1.2GB usage was aero, practically no services, and ummm winamp agent, G15 LCD software, Avast with 2 resident scanners on, xfi changer, and G5 software.......

My bad, I completely forgot I posted on this, mighta come home drunk and decided to read forums

Anyways the 2GB of RAM is fine, but the video I wouldnt be too sure it would run properly.

Vista to me runs "slow" if I dont have my Flash Voyager GT 4GB in and 4GB of ram

to clarify.
