Wireless problems on Vista

Hi
I have just purchased a Compaq Presario C500 notebook which has Vista Home installed as standard. The problem I have is that whatever I do, I cannot get my wireless working. I cannot see any of my wireless networks.

Can anyone help. I have had done a fair search of the internet for help but keep getting the same problem. I am thinking about blowing Vista away and installing 2000 but I envisage problems.

Does anyone have any advice they may like to share. I believe that this is quite a common problem with Vista.

Have you tried it at a friend's house?
