Firewall for Vista?

Hey,

Can anyone recommend a decent freeware firewall that works well with Vista? I've read that the newer "Vista compatible" version of Zone Alarm is problematic. If that's true, are there any good alternatives?

Thanks

Try Vista Firewall Control. It's specifically made for Vista. I tried several other Firewalls eg Comodo, Kerio, Jetico and either they were buggy and crashed, or did not even support Vista or were not really freeware and some of the options were disabled after 30 days. Vista Firewall Control is a simple no frills freeware firewall which runs as a service and it's given me no trouble since I started using it several months ago. It's just recently been upgraded to version 2 as well and also has a paid for Plus version which has finer control over security Zones, Router support etc. . just google the name. I don't want to quote the name of it's website in case there is a rule against advertising on the forum.

I'm using Comodo Firewall, works with 64bit Vista too. It's one of the best firewalls available.

I don't use any other firewall except Vista's own basic one and my hardware router firewall. When I check my ports etc with a variety of sites including mcafee or hacker whacker etc, I pass with flying colors. Either my pc is not recongnised as being on the net (which is cool) or all ports are on stealth.

Vista's built-in firewall works quite well, if you really feel the need, it's configurable to block outbound connections as well as inbound ones.
