Wink My E6400 Dual Core 2 Duo on 64 bit Vista

Hi, so anyway, I`m using windows xp SP 2 at the moment and I was wondering would be switching to Vista 64 bit worthwhile or would it just slow my PC down?
Specs:
Mobo:Asus P5LD2 SE
Processor:E6400 2x2,13 Ghz
Ram:2 GB Corsair running at 667 Mhz
Graphic card:Sapphire Radeon HD 4850
I use my comp for basically everything..from gaming, to watching movies..etc..
Ideas, recommendations?

Make sure there are drivers for all your hardware in and out of the PC case, and if there are, make the move. You might want to get another 2GB of RAM, but not necessary IMO.

Also, you might want to check for versions of the software you use if it is compatible with Vista 64. If you only do games, watching movies, then I guess you will be fine.

Right..almost forgot abut the drivers:/
I once tried running vista 32 bit but was very dissapointed by the results..I got no sound watsover..yeah..integrated sound so problem with drivers..and internet connection problems, but could probably fix those..other then that..meh it worked...but 64 bit would probably be a better idea for my processor, right?..but would the games run faster/slower?

you could use a mobo upgrade man, P43 sounds about right for you, im not sure if your board can handle more RAM very well.

nah dont worry, youre not bothering me at all..... you can get vista x64 and you may wanna try and stick 4GB in it, but i recommend a new board as they can address way more RAM

P45 can address a whopping 16GB so im going to buy a P45 board and 16GB soon enough......

go for vista 64 bit, 1 year ago the choice would have been hard to make but with more and more people switching to it now the hardware and software support has improved dramaticly over the last year. i have been running 64 bit OS for close to 2 years now. i started with XP 64 bit then switched to vista 64 bit

i would say yes... 64bit should run very well

but your onboard audio is one chipset i have had nothing but horrible experiences with when it comes to either xp or vista ..

FULL mobo specs here : ASUSTeK Computer Inc.

while i would myself install vista x64 on there..... it just wouldn't be as good as a newer P35/P45 board with the ICH9/r/ich10/r chipsets AND the Realtek ALC889a onboard audio.

Nows a good time to try and get rid of that board/ram/cpu as in a few months it's going to significantly drop...
