I think you just drag then to the new place and that should be it. That should do it. Well at least it works in here ...

Re: Change the tabs, for good

I would have to do this with all the folders, one by one. Anything faster? I want to add date modified, remove date taken, for all th folders across my hard disks.

Re: Change the tabs, for good

Yeah one by one unless you goto folder options, when you got the first folder done, and there select use in all folders from the view tab.

In COMPUTER, click on VIEW, then click on CHOOSE DETAILS.

That will give you a popup what will allow you to choose what you want to display it, and it what order.

Re: Change the tabs, for good

you're in luck, as i've hacked up a way for my vista to have any & every folder have the same details view, no more folder type detection (photos/music/etc), AND any new mycomputer windows are a larger size than stock default, to top it off i made the settings stick for good!

interested? i have to write an article someday on this, but basically it's reset all folders, set current folder, apply to all, copy values from registry into a new one that treats all folders as a default type, & deny writing permissions

Um it's really quite simple ... and the exact same way you do it in Windows XP:

Set folders to whatever you want, for example I like all of my files sorted be date created... when you like how it looks click this one button located here:

Tools >> Click View Tab >> Click Apply to Folders

You're done

Re: Change the tabs, for good

I have noticed, just as in XP, it doesn't work for all folders, or always. Oh well, I am used to it now. Thanks.

Re: Change the tabs, for good

In Vista they've divided it into types of folders, so you'll have to go through a couple of folders with different contents in order to change the most common views.

That is until Vista eventually decides to forget your settings for some folders, or randomly select a different folder profile. Even with various tweaks this happens sooner or later and is so commonly occurring that it ought to be a long standing bug with the Explorer.
