exclamation how to search?
How can I do a search on all my HDDs for files over certain size? I can't figure out how to do any kind of search apart from filename...

Ok, found it. I had to switch the start menu to the classic to make the search appear there...pfff.

One can also use F3 or Win+F to engage the systemwide search function.

I just start with a wildcard [*.*] and a couple of options later I have the Advanced Search.

What I wish I could use is to filter duplicates. I had a program years ago under 95 and, I think, 98 that would do that.

I don't understand why the SEARCH link (not the field) is missing from the start menu when using vista and not the classic start menu.

They removed it in SP1 (as well as the search on right-click on folders) because of google and co. complaining. Stupid that you can't add it back.

You've all kind of lost me on this. I'm not using the Classic Start Menu and I AM using Vista SP1. And, when I click on START, just above the Task Bar is a SEARCH box that says, Start Search, in very light lettering. To the far right of that box is a magnifying glass icon.

So, when I type *.* in the box, I get 2 options that show up just above this:

Search Everywhere
Search the Internet


I click on Search Everywhere and I get my next window.

In that next window is the option to do an Advanced Search.





BTW, I did find a nifty and free Duplicate File Finder ....
