Laptop DVD drive not showing up...
Hey guys!
My friend is having an issue long distance and can't see what's going on but is having a problem. His DVD drive is not working. What happens is that it is not showing up under "computer" and will not read any disks of course. What does work is when we go to device manager it is listed, but has a yellow warning under it. The drive did work before, but no longer does. Any ideas? He really needs the help and I did everything I could... Also any topic about removing filters from the registry will not work because they are not there anymore... We both tried in vista with no success. So any other help would be great! Thanks in advance! |

Re: Laptop DVD drive not showing up...
Try resetting the upper and lower limits.
And it could also be disconnected, esp if it's a laptop. Edit: okay you tried limits, try uninstalling and reinstalling it in device manager.

Re: Laptop DVD drive not showing up...
That is what I am talking about...
I can not locate those files. That reg key is not showing up on my computer. I tried it with him and he was not finding them, but can't be 100% sure. or are you talking about something else? |

Re: Laptop DVD drive not showing up...
Is this a SATA or IDE device? Also, check in the BIOS and see if it's set up in P-I/O mode or not.
if it's listed in Device Mangler, try to uninstall the device and restart the machine and see if it'll install itself correctly. But before you do that, right click on it and select properties. In the "troubleshoot" box, it shoujld give you a code. What is the code that it gives out when that is displayed? |
