help to copy the Dark Knight and Wall-e DVDs on Vista

I am trying to make two backup copies of the Dark Knight and Wall-E DVDs, but they end with an error saying that the DVD might be protected.

I am using Windows Vista 32 bit.

Any help would be appreciated!

Generally need specialized software in order to burn backups of movie files.

DVD Shrink is my software of choice. Really, really simple. And freeware, of course.

DVD Shrink is great, but hasn't been updating is ages. AnyDVD is good for bypassing the copy protection, and cloneDVD works for editing and burning.

Best DVD copy program I know of is DVDFab5. It removes the copy protection automatically (no need for AnyDVD) and it has tons of options for copying the dvd's. As a bonus, it also handles scratched dvd's really well which all the other programs could not do.

Re: help to copy the Dark Knight and Wall-e DVDs on Vista

you guys got a good guide on ripping dvd's into standard 700/1400mb xvid .avi files like the pro's do it?
I have over 300 DVD's at home (all purchased in the past 10+ years) and I would rather back then up myself then waste my bandwith on piratebay rips that don't look very good.
I have more than enough room for 300 movies... i just don't feel like going through 100 applications...

IMO, speaking from experience I would not bother backing them up in avid format. You're better off buying a few stacks of cheap dvd-r and using the ripping program to make DVD-5 copies that way you still retain the quality and features of the DVD. I have hundreds of cd's lying around full of movies but the codecs become outdated and the quality will suffer for future viewing. Since I switched to using DVD's I managed to backup about 200 DVD's at about 20-30minutes encoding time for each movie (depends on how much compression is used). If you decide to encode them to 700mb/1400 xvid's that will take hours for each movie rather than tens of minutes for DVD copying.
