Network icon gone.
A few days ago the network icon on the taskbar disappeared and I have absolutely no idea how to get it back.
I was having a break at work and played around with my laptop and ran AmiKIT as an example, this in battery powered mode. It was there then. AmiKIT (winuae) crashed and locked up so I had to shut it down manually, then I turned the computer off since I had to get back to work. Next time I turned it on the icon was gone. Some other things had happened as well. It seems like the windows firewall was reset because I had to allow programs access again. So, something happened that changed things in my system but I don't know what. all seems good though, except that I can't get that icon back. Of course I can access these settings in other ways but it's a lot easier with it where it's supposed to be. |

Re: Network icon gone.
There's a check box under network connections in XP to "show icon in tool tray".....

Re: Network icon gone.
I've found that one, problem is that it's grayed out so I can't do anything with it.

Re: Network icon gone.
that's odd.. it shouldn't be greyed out... if it's greyed out.... usually another 3rd party program has taken control of that function on you (this is the only time i've ever seen it greyed out personally.... toshiba laptops is one that typically started doing this to me... and i HATE toshiba's networking programs)

Re: Network icon gone.
Dang, well a reboot fixed it so it was selectable and now the icon is avaliable again.
Though, I'd like to know how this happened because I certainly didn't do anything except start winuae, shut it down after it locked up and then turned the laptop off. |

Re: Network icon gone.
Yes, I really don't like when things happen by themselves. It does mean that something isn't right. Well, I'll see if it happens again or not.
