screwed up the pictures folder...not looking good

Well I just reformatted, 2 times because creative drivers didnt install due to some lame bugs it has the first time. I was moving my folders back to their default locations in vista. I accidently set my pictures folder to my D: drive. I tried changing it back to the pictures folder ON the D: drive, not the drive itself. When I did I got a weird error...and now the pictures folder on the drive is gone! I did a search for my pictures by some file names I remembered and no luck! So I tried restoring to the default location...and got that same error message. Took a screen cap of it.

did I somehow delete my pictures folder?! Oh man I really hope I didn't. I made sure to unhide my files too after and no luck!

edit - it restored my default pictures directory... but my pictures folder still is gone

There are some good undelete programs around, I don't know which, but you could google for one.

Word of advice, well, 3.
1)Never use the my documents and my pictures and my music, etc, to store any of your documents or pictures or music etc.
2)Backups
3)remove your creative sound card and sell it.

1. I don't store on the default dir, been fine for years. Thats why I keep it on a seperate drive.
2. TRUE, been lazy
3. Never will use onboard and until there's something that puts out quality better than the x-fi, I won't switch unless I will be running digital out on a home theatre. Everything sounds like crap.

hmm blue ill try some programs... I tried one and it didnt work.

edit - i found the files. Using a program called getdataback I found that somehow it became a HIDDEN system file. I forgot to uncheck to show system files as well. My friend told me to view hidden files. I need to go buy a a eSata drive tomorrow...

I have used ParetoLogic to undelete some pictures my wife lost. We got back 1 gb of pictures off a 256mb thumb drive. I did not know you could do that.... It worked real well. Also used it on her hard drive after a crash. It is a paid program but it does have a trial. The trial will show you what can be recovered then you have to pay for it in order to recover them. I hope it helps.
