Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit Yees
I just aquired my mom's copy of Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit as she retired her computer and gave me all of her software to install on my computer. I tried convincing her that using a computer can add a huge creative aspect to her life, but she insisted that she would leave the creativeness to me. So I have Vista Ultimate 64bit now and it's so much better than Vista Home Premium 32bit. It even feels newer and more present and capable to my expectations. Yay I'm in heaven. I haven't installed any service packs yet and am already getting background services shutting off on their own. Also my system has restarted once on it's own with no explanation. None of which had occurred on my previous OS. Today no errors though.

Re: Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit Yees
correct. microsoft have even taken off the security question off their phone service so activation and transfer across from a single pc to pc is now even easier of course.

It were a choice of buying a new key or sticking with a System Disk (Vista Home 64bit) from Packard Bell which i have done so.As it requires no activation at all..It just leaves me with around an hours worth of uninstalling a load of unwanted apps.. |

Re: Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit Yees
Yes you can transfer licenses. You have to make Microsoft aware of the transfer I do believe, however.

Re: Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit Yees
Well its either a change of policy or its a little different over here in the uk... It were only a few months ago when i tried...No one mentioned anything like that on the phone except for needing to buy a new key..
No big deal... |

Clean builds are always far faster than when you would have been using a PC for a while because you're starting over with a blank slate and hardly anything installed. I remember (back in the day, lol) when I re-formatted my hard drive to re-install Vista. I could almost set my watch by it - 25-30 seconds from power on to fully-ready. Nowadays it takes a few minutes before everything finishes loading. Most of it's due to Windows Updates (though SP2 did improve on the loading times over SP1). |

Re: Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit Yees
Now that is odd if we are talking Retail license and not OEM...

Re: Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit Yees
Here's where they made the switch, at least in U.S Retail/OEM Terms
Microsoft removes transfer limitations from Vista - Ars Technica Technically it is OEM that is not suppose to be able to transfer but if you read the article, lotsa people have had success doing it, I believe however that Ultimate is much more forgiving as it is Intended for people who transfer/Customize builds (i.e Gamers.) |

Re: Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit Yees
I have a problem, help please. Everytime I leave my PC at the desktop unnoticed I come back to find that it has rebooted with the message to say that it has recovered from an unexpected shutdown, unfortunately I don't have the error code as I only thought to report it now, has anyone had this problem at all??
Specs: New 80GB Seagate Sata HDD has only had 4 installs. New Motherboard, RAM, Graphics card, DVD Drive. Have had issues getting new webcam to work with Vista 64, installer closes with error ( Microsoft VX3000 ) ? |
