Any solution that runs from a DVD, to clean an already infected system?

I decided to use one of those Live CDs. Unfortunately it was conflicting with the laptop in question so I couldn't use it, or go back to my place (about 12km away, no car), so I relied on housecall by trend micro to check it, it seemed clear. I did make sure to uninstall a malware there (norton 360), and then replace it with avira. They are not going to use anything weird and only limited amount of time online so I decided instead of installing some thirdparty firewall that could freak them out, to enable the Vista one. Should be ok.
