It's several GB in size.

Re: safe to delete folder?

To my experience, yes. Any files still needed should be locked and Windows wouldn't delete them.

Re: safe to delete folder?

To be on the safer side just copy the contents into a new folder, delete everything, restart, and if no problems occur, dispose of the backup.

isnt that the folder that houses files that were downloaded off the internet for temporary use?

Re: safe to delete folder?

Use the Disk Cleanup tool, if the files are safe to delete it should remove them.

kris23: I think that's the Temporary Internet Files folder.

Re: safe to delete folder?

Well I don't think anyone can give a definitive answer, but in my experience if it's in the temp folder then it's safe to delete. As has been said copy it to a new folder delete and reboot.

CCleaner should clean that folder... it's the systems temp folder. Back in the days of DOS and Windows 3.11 I had following command in autoexec.bat [SET TEMP=C:\TEMP\]

Re: safe to delete folder?

I found the answer.

I was pissed off with Copernicus Desktop Search (how has this thing won anything?) and re-enabled the Windows Search. Or at least I thought I re enabled it because I never disabled it properly.

Earlier today I was (guess) pissed off with Windows Search. So this time I properly disabled it.

For some other reason I went to check the specific temp folder and most of the files were gone, just two small ones remaining.
It looks that either of the two desktop search programs was causing this.

I then deleted the last remaining edb file from Search (Windows Search index file) which in a couple of seconds it took me to do the procedure grew to a couple hundred megabytes.

The last thing wasn't connected, I just though to mention it.

Thank you all for your replies and +rep where possible is coming up.
