Annoying Blue Screens of Death?

Howdy y'all.

In various circumstances, mostly trying to access videos or wordpress on Firefox or gaming, I continue to get STOP: 0x00000124 errors on a BSOD. I have a HP Pavilion DV5-1110EM with a 32-bit Vista. It's not a heat issue and every memory test I've tried has found nothing wrong. The last two times it crashed, I managed to mark it down.

When using firefox when it BSOD'd:
STOP: 0x00000124 (0x00000000, 0x85894028, 0xB6000000, 0x00000181)

When playing Team Fortress 2 through Steam when it BSOD'd:
STOP: 0x00000124 (0x00000000, 0x85A9A3F0, 0xB6000000, 0x00000181)

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Edit: It runs specs of:

HDD: 250GB
RAM: 3GB
Graphics: ATI Radeon 3450
Processor: AMD Turion X2 Dual Core Mobile RM-72 2.10GHz
Graphics Memory: 256 MB

Re: Annoying Blue Screens of Death?

Googling the stop code in the past has lead me to believe it can be cause by almost anything. I've been helping a relative to figure out where the problem in their system lies and while I think they've had other stops as well now it's all about stop 124 when playing games or visiting websites with a lot of flash video on them.

I'm curious though, what kind of graphics card does that system have? Fill in other specs you may have too, in case others can see some pattern.

Re: Annoying Blue Screens of Death?

Use this: Blue Screen View

It will display a list of blue screens that you've had:

The files highlighted in red in the above picture are the ones that caused the blue screen. If you scroll to the right it will give you a description - it will be a really obvious description along the lines of "ATI driver..." or "Kaspersky scan file..."
If it's not obvious, just upload a screenshot for one of us to look at or name the files that were highlighted (eg: hal.dll)

I think I love you. The files causing trouble are hal.dll and ntkrnlpa.exe - any advice?

Re: Annoying Blue Screens of Death?

In my experience that's a more general fault; the classic "there is a problem" message that usually is a result of a hardware fault between the motherboard, processor and/or RAM.
Maybe someone else can give you a little more insight.

Re: Annoying Blue Screens of Death?

124 is RAM related, isn't it? What RAM are you using? and give us your settings (mhz, latencies...) Maybe you need more voltage.

Re: Annoying Blue Screens of Death?

Just adding that in the system I mentioned above it was the CPU that was shot, surprisingly.
