Microsoft Vista means you need new monitors
"According to a US tech consultant Stephen Speicher, Vista will make protected digital content all fuzzy unless it is viewed on high bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) compatible monitor.
You can read all about current Volish thinking on the standard here, while Speicher’s interview with the Sydney Morning Herald can be found here." ___________________________ Read More/Source: The Inquirer |

First off this is from the Inquirer, and secondly the more I know about "Vista" the less I want it.

If no one trusts the inquirer why do we keep posting news from them?

This only concerns protected HD-DVD/Bluray content, I believe. I wouldn't be surprised if HD-DVD/Bluray-ROM drives ended up shipping with an additional HDCP adapter to connect to your DVI monitor. Otherwise, there'd be almost no market for those drives.
Also, if your computer has component-video-out, this doesn't apply to you; it will display normally. Similarly, if you're concerned about HDTV content, simply use the compnent connectors from your receiver.

I wouldnt worry about the crappy DRM protection that will be added to vista. Even if microsuck adds such a thing to Vista, it will only hurt the few end users who dont know what GOOGLE is.... For some reason, alot of websites have been releaseing information "CNET and others" on how to get around the authentication check for windows update... If major sites like those are listing information like that, the common people will get the update for vista that they are looking for....
Quite frankly, I dont care how bad microsuck thinks that they can mess with the code for vista... As long as we have those kick arse german programmers that just love the whole hacking experiance, we will get a version of vista that doesnt suck... (Legaly bought version with modded files ofcouse....) |

Think about it...it took years for game developers to make games that had PARTIAL directX 9.0 components, and another year or two until there were less than a handful of games that have full directx 9.0 shaders, coding, etc. How long do you think it will be until directX 10 will be in games with even partial compatability, let alone completely coded with directx10 effects, or whatever it is that directx does ![]() Just my 2 cents
