Windows Vista Beta 1 Screenshots + Video
"I took the time this weekend to play around with Windows Vista Beta 1 and snapped a few screenshots and recorded a video. The reason for the video is just to show off Windows Vista new graphics engine. The video was taken with a digital camera so the quality isn't the greatest; however, the effects can still be seen. Enjoy!"

You need a wide-angle lens and a tripod. That's the method my brother uses. You can frame the camera up to the monitor and lock the focus. Set the monitor to 60hz and turn on v-sync. You get a remarkably clear picture that way.
Anyhow, it doesn't look much different than XP to me. I thought it was supposed to have a "3D desktop". I thought it would have been somehow more impressive to look at....like 3D blocks with program or file icons on all the sides or something.... I don't know.....I'm not sure what I really "expected" it to look like.....I never saw anything visually about Longhorn/Vista (whatever) before, so at least now I have a general idea of what it's gonna look like. meh... |

And lets not forget the fact, that you need a DX9 card to get all the cool effects and it does like RAM alot, 1gig is recommended, but for a Beta 1 it's actually pretty fast to use.

it runs beautifully on my rather dated XP2800+, geforce5600, with 512MB of RAM. i didnt really notice a performance difference between having the visual styles on or off. those of you that would pay $400 for a 10% gain in performance on farcry could come up with some numbers to argue that tho. I'm just hoping its not the next Windows Me.

I like Vista, it seems incredibly effecient and for a beta it's very promising.
