vista setup trouble (heelllpppp....)

ok here's the deal. I have a notebook (P4 3.0GHz, 768MB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon 9100, 40GB HDD) and when I try to install Vista it takes my computer about 14 hours to pergform the setup process. I eventually end up disrupting the installation. does anyone have any idea why is that??? has anyone experienced similar problems???? please help...

I have seen the install take several hours to do, If I recall correctly on my laptop I left it on overnight. The install will be slimmed down in beta 2 from what I've read on the newsgroups.

System Specs

I experienced this recently, first time round I installed from within Windows x64 onto a second drive and was fine, but on re-installing from boot up, it took over 2-3 hours to complete.

As wingman said I'd set it off overnight and see how it's gone in the morning. It may install alrite. If not hang around for Beta2

wingman said it took him overnight to install vista so that's reassuring. I thought there was definetely something wrong with my notebook. I'm prepared to let vista setup for the rest of the day but is Vista really worth it? I mean aside from the new slick look and all, is Vista all that different and worthwhile???
