I have a mx510 mouse and elite keyboard plugged in to the usb port on the back. It used to work but now doesn't. Now I have to use the PS/2 adapter for it to work. I think I some how deleted the usb thingy from windows. When I try plugging the mouse in thru the usb there is no light and windows doesn't see/read it. I have the drivers for the keyboard n mouse installed. Please help! thanks

try unplugging your usb turning off the computer and then plug it in and then turn it on see if that helps.

I've got a similar problem with my USB Flash Memory Reader. If I don't have a Flash Memory Card installed when I boot the computer, it tends to become disabled. The only way I can restore it is to shutdown, turn off the computer at the PSU, wait a few seconds, make sure the Memory Card is inserted, then start it back up again.
So, what you might do is shutdown and then unplug the PC completely. Wait just a few seconds, make sure everything is plugged into the USB connectors and then start back up after plugging in the PC. |

Make sure that you didn't use something like the Blackviper site to go in and disable unused services from within windows.
In order to use the Logitech keyboard/mouse you need to have the HID input service enabled. (that is assuming you have 2000/XP as your OS. If not, I would recommend checking in the device manager to see if the USB modules are even there. It is also a possibility, if the USB ports are on the motherboard, that they were somehow disabled in the BIOS settings. |

just something additional to others...
Have you... tried the device using USB connectivity on a different computer? tried the device on a different USB port? tried connecting other USB device to the USB port in question? tried using the BIOS's default settings? try that. and you may want to try this also... remove the mouse software first, then try re-installing the USB's host controller and root hub, do this by uninstalling them in the Device Manager and let Windows re-install them on the next system boot. |

USB Port - Not Working
When I turn on my computer none of my usb ports work. They use to work. And like when I go into safe-mode their working. But when I try to take songs off my mp3 player when in safe mode its transfering really slow. I think its on USB 1.1 when its suppose to be on USB 2.0. Can anyone help me? thanks.

Any changes to your hardware or software since you used them successfully(including Windows updates)? Also, what are your system specs?
In the Device Manager, you could delete all the devices under Universal Serial Bus controllers, then reboot and allow Windows to reinstall them all, to see if that fixes it...

Johnny's two USB threads merged.
Johnny,
Please post your system specs (like you see in my sig) when asking hardware questions. It is almost impossible to help without them. Good luck! rasta
