Help!!
My computer won't boot. When I start my computer everything passes at start-up, but my computer can't seem to get pass the WinXP screen, it either hangs or restarts. I'm thinking it's a power problem, but I've tried booting w/ 1 HD and 1 CD drive connect. I've also tried lowering my CPU clockspeed down to default and disconnecting all case fans along w/ my CPU fan at lowest speed posible, I even disconnected my video card fan but still no go. This has only happened recently, the problems just keep getting worse. Disconnecting the fans and/or lowering my CPU speed has worked before, but now nothing works. Is my PSU dying?

You probably have already tried this, but have you gone into Windows safe mode? If that doesn't work do you get any beeps out of your system? What's the CPU temperature indicated in the bios? Did your PC reboot without your consent?

Yes, I am able to boot into safe mode. CPU temp is 30*C. PC did not reboot w/o consent.

I'd suggest maybe you try to repair Windows XP with the original XP CD (recovery console maybe). I know this might be a pain in the arse, but after this method check to see if you can re-install XP.

Thanks, HsuGotaQ
After running a repair on WinXP everything works now. I think the problem may have come from XPSP2 pre-exe updates.

Great to know that you've found out a possible problem. Which pre-sp2 patch do you think caused your lockups on boot?

Not too sure which one exactly. I used the pre-exe bat to install 'em all.
