??? CPU Using 100%??

Wasn't sure whether to post this here or in CPU forum. But i decided here. Here's the problem. My PC crashed, so i restarted via the switch, as you do. Now when i turn it back on my PC suffers HUGE lag, infact it will barely do a thing. The reason? I opened task manager, after waiting 5 minutes for it to load. CPU Usage = 100%. WHAT? I closed each process one by one, aside from the crtical ones the system needs. The problem is Explorer.exe. Once i had closed this, CPU Usage = 0% and all systems are go.

Now of course it's not very practical to use the computer without the Taskbar and all the stuff that comes with Explorer.exe. So in the Task Manager i goto File > New Task and reopen Explorer.exe. An guess what? It all runs perfectly. Yet when i restart...same problem. So, any ideas wtf is going on? Cheers

i agree with Bellator

try scanning with spyware software (adaware, spybot, spysweeper)
then with your virus scanner (AVG and Avast are two free ones)

I did a quick search and this problem seems to be caused by a bunch of different things. Hardware conflicts, corrupt system files, and of course malware, spyware and viruses. Hopefully the cause for you can be narrowed down.

hmmm

is your computer a Sony Viao by any chance? I own a Viao and on the Sony support site they have a update that fixes this problem. Its a common occurence with the Viao's, if you dont have a Viao then just look @ your manufacturers web page for a update.
