??? Cluster size with XP and NTFS

Can you change the cluster size within Windows on an NTFS partition? I know that you can choose during the formatting of the disk, but was curious if it can be changed once the drive is formatted and fully functional..

I wouldn't recommend messing with cluster size under ntfs. you might use a smaller than default cluster size but the increase in space usage is minimum... adversely, the performance of the system might degrade. Tried that and didn't like it at all.

Secondly, I found Partition Magic to be fail proof. Apart for the power going off or smth like that

Nothing is fail proof! I use Partition Magic a lot, and have had about 3 failures with this software(non with PM8 so far) over a 4 year period, not bad all things considered, but still backup data first!!

And as you only want to alter cluster size, you may as well backup the data & alter cluster size thru Drive Management

You may want to have a quick read of this first before you mess with your cluster sizes!
