getting past log-on screen

so i've come across a situation where in order to log onto the computer i must log on w/both username and password. i tried to log in as the user and also as the system administrator, but my lack of knowing the password prevents me from doing so.

i was just wondering what tools are out there to allow me to get into the system.

I don't think you've got many options that won't leave a clear sign it's been done. I.e changed password, borked install? lol.

best bet would be to try and actually get his pass, a keylogger perhaps or crafty fly on the wall stealth.

burn a bootable linux dvd if all you need to do is surf the net

it's a piece of cake to do, and cos all you gotta do is tap f2 it leaves no trace

or if you like, I can host the iso of a certain disc that will 'remove' xp passwords for you on start up

Such a great disc. Saved my hide numerous times over, and has made me money time and again.

The program in question on that disc is called "Offline NT Password and Registry Editor". However, you don't need that disc. Goto THIS page, and follow the instructions on how to download and use it.

BTW, a little off topic, but relevant, one of the most common misconceptions is that XP Home has no Administrator account. So wrong. XP Home has no "active" administrator account in normal mode, but if you login using safemode there is. As such you can just login using the admin account in safemode, and fix the issue with the other accounts (even create a new one if needed), or work on the system itself.

Just thought I'd through that in for anyone that has the same problem with XP Home.
