Won't Save Homepage - Windows XP

I just did a fresh format of my laptop to get it all nice and speedy for college and IE won't let me change the homepage. I've tried changing it to different homepages of different websites but it keeps changing back to the msn homepage.

I tried to circumvent this by upgrading to IE7.0 and it does the same thing. I want to set my homepage to my google homepage.

could be due to one of software programs that you use it to improve security of your Windows computers, and such a change is prohibited, until you change the program's setting...

I think it was adaware or xcleaner or one of those that did that to me one time, there was a little box needed checked/unchecked otherwise everytime you shut your browser down it reverts to original
