Unable to delete a file

Hi, I was cleaning up my system recently, and I realised that Norton Antivirus did not uninstall itself properly as there were still NPROTECT folders in all the RECYCLER folders, in each and every of my drives. I deleted them, but when I came to G:, I couldn't delete it. There was this file "00000000.". No extension or anything, and when I tried to delete it, Windows gave an error saying it cannot find the file etc. How do I delete it...? =[

How big is the file? Have you tried deleting it in safe mode? are you showing protected system files? if so hide them and see if it appears.

look in your registry for referances to the file... remove them ...... the other way is to write down the path and file name (in xp) then boot from the windows cd , use the restyore option 'recovery console' loging to the root of the drive go to the path trype delete (filename) ........ in (95/98) hit hold F8 on loading windows.... then select safe mode command prompt.. go to the path trype delete (filename)

Well I once had a problem like that. You may want to try this program to remove the file http://download.com.com/3000-2248-6580132.html Let us know if it works!

Sometimes what works is shutting down all unnecessary progs in task manager including explorer.exe and then going to new task> cmd and delete the file from ms-dos window. But, it's too late for that now I guess.

Yeah, some files are a bitch to delete and I remember having some in the past which I've used different methods to delete. Never formatted cause of that though. I've always found a solution by searching the internet (google) and somehow someone always had the solution.

I've this problem loads with XP & 2000 used a proggy called jv16 power tools, has lots of goodies included with it & the best thing is its freeware! HAven't come across a file yet that it wouldn't allow me to delete

http://www.vtoy.fi/jv16/shtml/software.shtml

Be careful if u use the reg cleaner, in there you can get a bit carried away with it

Easy Delete, jv16 power tools, they all do what u can do yourself manually. Me, I wouldn't install one of these programs because I'd rather do it myself. And, it's not like you run into these sort of problems often anyways.

-[§]- I just though of something: My post count is getting really close to 420. When it finally gets there, I wonder what I'm gonna do...I might just not post for a while so that it stays at 420 cuz that would look so cool. I don't know. I might just have to keep adding on to my posts by editing instead of posting new posts. -[§]-
