this problem is annoying the hell out of me....

it randomly started I don't know why, all i can recall is installing my bluetooth keyboard which is now screwed and on its way to the trash can. i found the problem AND solution on the MS knowledge base and here it is:

that is exactly what happens to me, except my mouse freezes and i can sometimes hear my hard drive die out. funny thing is, this doesn't occur on vista. i reformatted my system as well today, and it happened on the first shutdown after reformatting. sometimes though it doesn't hang, but its quite random.

Yes, hanging at shutdown is one of the most annoying of problems. You might get some help from here:

i think i solved it.... did some searching under MEDIA CENTER hanging problems and found a program called UPHClean

i told my mom while i was out working out to keep restarting the computer for me since she didnt have anything to do. didnt stop once. but i will see how it progresses
