RAID driver install & FDD doesn't work

My FDD controller on my mobo no longer working ( the 'F' no longer means 'floppy' but F*?@ED)

I haven't been able to reformat & re-install XP for maybe 9 months or so and the system has gradually been slowing. But recently (last six weeks) starting to get a few software problems so I really want to to do a fresh format/install.

Problem:
The only way I know to install these drivers is during an XP install via the "Press F6 if you need to install a 3rd party SCSI or RAID driver." It then looks for a floppy and nothing else.

Question:
Can anyone advise me of a 'workaround' for this please?

BTW, mobo has ICHR5 and Silicon3112 controllers.

Thanks

you can slipstream the raid driver into XP and burn a new cd and the bootable cd will take care of the driver

For what it's worth your getting a 'rep hit' for that. Thanks

Edit: OMG!!! Just read through the instructions and it looks like a seriously time consuming process to initially get it off the ground.

I posted THIS into the other thread.

Your best bet would be the instructions that Maximum PC has on THIS page (note steps 3 and 4).

Ok, just started and have a couple of questions.

I trust that it works ok with an OEM CD that I have?
If the XPOEM that have is an SP2 version then I assume that I skip the step to slipstream SP2? ie That I don't need to download a network servic pack file.

Edit: forget the second question I know that I can skip it!

Edit #2: Okay, it works with an OEM just dandy. Made an ISO image with just the SP2 & hotfixes so far and testing that on a virtual machine as I speak

Just thought I'd update.

I can slipstream everything on to SP2 disk (hotfixes, drivers etc) exept the RAID drivers is the only thing I'm having problems with. Unbelievable. I'm not asking for help at this stage 'cos I want to see if I can work it out so please don't reply with any well-meaning tips etc!!

not sure if this would help with a busted FDD controller, but have you tried reflashing the BIOS? Or is the controller itself, like, dead?

The controller died probably about 3/4 months after flashing latest BIOS. I never use FDD anyhow. I haven't saved anything to FDD for probaly over a coupla years (work and home). The only thing I needed it for was SATA RAID drivers!!! Slipstream works okay so I don't really care. FDDs are crap and my new rig that I'm saving for won't have one. Everything will be on bootable ISO disks, flash drive etc.
