MCE 2005: Any way to change the video output?

Is there any way within MCE 2005 to change the video output file from dvr-ms to something like mp2?

The TV card streams mp2, but MCE converts it to the dvr-ms file on the HDD.

While we CAN work with it, mp2 would be easier to deal with AND require less translating through the PC.

Sure, we could just use the tuner card's software, but it's poor and defeats the purpose of MCE.

Is it possible? If so, where, how?
