Installing Windows on a PS3

Note 4 the mods :i really dont know where to place this thread but the answer is crucial to me.. so plz notify if u decide to move it

When PS 3 got released I saw several videos of Linux running on the console, and later knew that it supported installing other OS's other than the firmware of Sony

Does that mean I can install windows on it ?
and if i could, can i run apps like Matlab, Orcad and the likes on it ?

i need a new PC and i want to buy a PS3 too, but i'm unable to get both, so i thought that getting the PS 3 would be the best idea

waiting for the tweakers answers

Windows XP running under emulation - I suspect that it may be more a curiousity than a worthwhile envirmment, probably inferior to the most bargain basement PC system that comes with a copy of XP (now Vista Basic) OEM thrown in.

I don't think Windows would be able to use the Cell very well. At all.

You'd be better off with a budget dual core for those apps.

For Linux, look in to Yellow Dog. I don't know if it will run on Gentoo yet... But I haven't checked in a while.
