Help With Service that Detects Hardware?!
When I freshly installed windows I cut a bunch of services, out, I have even reset them ll back to automatic but I seem to have killed The service that in "My Computer" displays the processor, also in cmd prompt, it doesn't allow me to do "systeminfo" and The DXP Diagnostics Tool says invalid namespsace twice when I try and start it up, does anyone know what service I killed and whih to start it back up again?

Hmm... I dunno.... I thought it might have been realted to performance logs and alerts... I didn't think it was a service after it wouldn't let command prompt connect to systeminfo but I dunno exactly what the problem... is?
Anyone got a clue? ![]() Something in the bios maybe? Preventing Windows from reading everything |

How about a good system restore to revert back to a point before you messed around with services?

re
how about getting your system info from .../accessories/system tools/system information can you see the info from there? also try to test "systeminfo" file in c:\windows\system32... by double clicking the file to see if any error.... missing , damage or need a file to run the program..

re re
Well, First of all, Windows Management instrumention has been Set back to autoimatic, so it is,
Secondly, when I double click "system info" IT says invalid name space for half a second and closes (Cuz it's not run through command prompt it closes I presume) But I double clicked it a dozen times and you can see somerthing that says "invalid name spacE" in bold letters Thern there are a whole bunch of "errors" in event viewer one is like this, in application "Windows couldn't log the RSoP (Resultant Set of Policies) session status. An attempt to connect to WMI failed. No more RSoP logging will be done for this application of policy. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp." What are the dependencies and do they need to be set to automatic as well? |

- remote procedure call(rpc)-- set to automatic "Windows couldn't log the RSoP (Resultant Set of Policies) session status. An attempt to connect to WMI failed. No more RSoP logging will be done for this application of policy.... " - thats event id: 1090 and source: userenv.. http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?e...source=Userenv as you can see "no info available" so it mean nowhere that i can find more info.. i would create a new account, computer admin type, log in as the account and then try the systeminfo again. |

Re: re re

if you had ones then you need to reinstall wmi into the registry.. cmd >Winmgmt/? (read information then close the applet) and then type in each of below hitting enter after each.. winmgmt /clearadap winmgmt /kill winmgmt /unregserver winmgmt /regserver winmgmt /resyncperf >exit and reboot. you can try this b4 doing the above try to run WMI.. go to start/run/cmd type in wmimgmt.msc you should see "configures and controls the...(WMI) service" without error message (see note), if you see something like "failed to connect to... due to WMI failure" then do.. start/run type in services.msc and right click on "windows management instrumentation" then click "stop" and close services. then start/run type in %SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem\Repository ..delete all files in the folder. reboot. note: if the WMI is ok and connected.. you can see the processor, os, wmi infos.. right click on WMI Control(local)/properties/general tab. Thanks for directing me over here panging, I was looking around but couldn't find the thread.
Anyway, my problem is a little different- last time I checked, system info worked just fine- I go to check my IRQ fo rmy video card and it pauses for a second, then loads up help and support every time. Even if I go into the run line and type systeminfo - same thing. I got spooked and thought it must be the dumb updated that I had installed the last couple of days. I was running sfc and everything- now I don't even want to shut down my compter- I want to back some things up first if ya know what I mean. scetchy----- I have had this install going great for about 8 months no problems, not even a hiccup-

Well, I think I am going to shut down and start up again- the only reason I though I may have screwed my system up is because at first I thought a reg-clean program I had MUST be at fault, so I used a backup registry and then tried to run the system info exe from the command line, I also did a sfc and it asked me for my windows cd- I should have stopped right there, but it wouldn't let me and started the process. It kept popping up the box that had a button for retry or cancel, but it wouldn't let me cancel and at that point I didn't want to just turn the PC off- I let it check the files, but it seemed to be writing to the hard drive. I even tried to get out of that program with the task manager, but it wouldn't let me. Before I did any of that I made sure all the services that needed to be on were on and accessories/system tools/system information STILL kept loading the help and support program. Driving me nuts--- I really don't know what could have happend, It could all be because of that stupid styleXP program, but I doubt it. Everything else works fine. (except when I go to the mouse properties pannel I get a bunch of errors only in the "pointers" tab, then after hitting 'ok' to all those errors, the mouse pannel works just fine)- this happend during one of the themexp installations- my fualt there I am sure. but no big deal. The initial problem was probably due to the loaner video card I have in there- It has been acting funny sisnce I got it. I'm sure my system will boot back up- but I think I may need to do some repairing if I want it back to perfect like it was before and has been for months.

I came close to losing the whole thing right here http://www.hardwareheaven.com/showthre...963#post117963 Quite a ways down the page (today)-- It still doesn't work-- No msinfo anywhere in c or windows or windows 32- Before my brush w/ death today, that sysinfo in system32 just popped up for a 1/10 ses then went away, now it actually stays open for a while and lists some things in a command prompt (DOS) and goes away. I have no idea what happend with these files- this is where I started noticing all the problems which lead to the above link. (stylexp uninstall was to blame- it ate my windows files)-- Anyway, when I go in the start menu the same thing happens, goto system info and the 'help and support' program comes up. I am just trying to repair my system now.
