WinXP: Are all .log files safe to delete?
Is it safe to delete the plethora of .log files that litter Windows?
Sure, maybe some of them contain useful information.....to someone, but mostly they are just taking up HD space as far as I can see. Are there certain log files that should not be deleted? Is there an option somewhere within XP to tell it not to create them in the first place? |

I think that most of them are useless because they are deleted when I use the CCleaner and nothing bad happens

While you can delete most, if not all log files, there are some instances that you will not want to so. Such as, if you are running the Folding @ Home client, do not delete the log for it. Also, if you see anything listed as "setup.log" do not delete these either as some installers require these as a reference for uninstalling. Everything else can pretty much be wiped.
