Bootup slowdown problem
I have Windows XP Professional SP2. What happens is, when I start up my computer (from restart or from being off), if I don't log in IMMEDIATELY (I'm talking less than 5 seconds), the login process takes AGES to complete. This doesnt happen though if I log out and log back in.
If I don't manage to log in fast enough, it loads things up to a certain point (start menu loaded, one icon in systray, desktop etc all loaded), but then it stops loading for a few minutes. In those few minutes I can't actually do anything; the only program I have been able to load in that time is Firefox, but when I try to go to a website it doesnt even start to download. When I login it loads ONLY MSN (7.5) and ZoneAlarm (latest version). I have disabled and removed anything else, even going to the point of disabling nonessential services, and I have no idea what the problem is. It does it consistently, as in every time I don't log in fast enough, it happens. Please post if you have any advice! (It's really annoying )

So, here's what you need to try to see if it will help: 1. Open the Windows Control Panel 2. Open up the USER ACCOUNTS 3. Click on the ASP.NET user account and then follow the options to DELETE it. If there are any other USERs listed that don't have access to the PC, Delete those, too. Reboot...and keep your fingers crossed. Good luck! |

the account is because .NET framework is installed. You might find this site handy.

I see. Thanks
The problem seems to be better now, although I also cleaned out lots of temporary files and prefetch, etc so that could have done something too. Just glad its not taking so long any more
