Problem with Diplay on Windows PC
Hello,
I have windows 2000 installed PC and it was working in good condition. Recently, I have connected Internet cable to my PC and suddenly the display settings have been changed to 800x600 screen resolution and color quality to 4bit resolution. Now those are the only possible options in settings and I cannot change any setting. And 3Com Ethernet NIC card also stopped working. When I see in the status of these hardware (Display and NIC card) in device manager it is shown as yellow colored exclamatory mark. Is it a problem with Motherboard or only with drivers???? Cud anybody explain what is the problem and with possible solution. Thanks in advance, Suresh |

First of all, before we can begin to help you, we need much more information about your PC. So, give us the rundown on which motherboard, CPU, RAM type and amount, Video Card, etc. In the meantime, it sounds quite possible that there is an IRQ conflict between the graphics card and the newly installed PCI NIC card. You can try moving the NIC card to a different PCI slot to see if that helps. Another thing to try: Go into the System BIOS and update the ESCD. This will 'possibly' reassign IRQs to avoid conflicts. But, it doesn't always work. Good luck! |

Hi,
Thanks you very much your help. I have just tried out the first option you described and it worked absolutely perfect. Now I got all my Display settings and ethernet card working without any special installations. I have changed the PCI slot of this NIC etherlink card....that's all n it worked. Greetings, Suresh |
