I want my Windows running like new.. after a 35 week install
Hi!
I thought I'd ask this question. How can I bring my Windows up to speed after I installed it after 35 weeks.. ? I'm fairly knowledgable in computers as I build and repair them all day bloody long. My PC is maintained.. It's always Virus Free, Spyware Free.. etc etc. I run O&O Defrag v10 very often and run registry checks, fixes, reg defrags and utlitlies etc etc. But my windows still runs not like it used to.. and on boot im using up almost 1gb of my ram lol. I've cleaned up my startup as well.. so I aint sure why the normal windows system files are taking up so much memory Any special tool or program which can make my windows run like an after format install? =) Also my PC becomes unstable after around the 24 hour uptime.. shit starts to crash.. other than that.. still runs fine. I'm just avoiding a format here as everything is where I want it to be etc and everything seems to work fine

that works great for me i have noticed. Reformatting time to time is always great. Also use driver cleaner when you update drivers. Uninstall, clean then install. I forget the link for the free one? Organize your folders, and if your computer is crashing monitor temps and definitely dust it out. My new case has an air filter on the front and keeps shit a lot cleaner. |

But, what you can do is simply do a Windows REPAIR installation and then do the updates. I wind up doing that maybe 3-4 times per year. It will restore Windows to its 'native' state without having to format the HDD or lose you data/programs, etc. On my system, in order for REPAIR to work right, I have to 'pretend' I want to install Windows on a new HDD. Then, it will search for any existing Windows installations and give me a warning about it. I just follow the prompts to REPAIR the installation and proceed from there. It does work wonders! Just be sure to install the motherboard/chipset drivers (updated ones if there are any) and you should be all set for another few months of use. Good luck! |
