I have a Dell desktop which was working fine after replaceing the PS and updating the memory. I booted twice and went to contol panel to check if system updated memory size. Everything was fine, so I went to Windows update and did the SP3 program. When I rebooted after that, I only get the Dell logo and the bios info screen. I get no beep from the processor and just hangs there. What can I do?

If you have your OS cd you can put it in and restore back to the point before you installed SP3 hopefully. Make sure though that its the right date and time or you could lose valuable files.

if you get to the dell logo screen, there should be an option that says "press F12 for diagnostic" or something similar. press that button and go through the steps it asks you to. at the end of the test, it'll tell you if there is any failed hardware.

but first, i'd say swap out all the new components you've installed and put back the original components just to see if it's not any of the old new components that's doing this to your machine.

this is likely not to work. the windows repair option through the windows disk requires that the windows disk that you have be that of the version of windows you have installed currently. so, if you have winXP sp3 installed, you'll need to find a winXP sp3 disk to use the windows repair method through CD.

For Dell computers restart the computer and hold the function (Fn) key the entire time during start up. you will load the diagnostic systems
