This is an interesting experiment on how someone installed Windows XP on a system with only a Pentium Overdrive CPU running at 8Mhz and 20Megs RAM.

It took 30 minutes to boot up..

They installed it on a more normal setup, 64MB RAM and 60MHz. Still, the installation took 4 hours. Is this guy curious or a masochist? Or is this a curious case of masochism?

on a intel 486dx 90mhz with 70mb of ram and a 2.4gb hd, took a little over 4 hours to install for me. (SP1a)

i'd guess with that system measureing in days wouldn't be far fetched.

although i find it strange that they state that 486 will not install, when the machine i had and the chip installed was indeed a 486dx2?(4?) anyways.... that system is long gone...

all i know is that the installation will flat out refuse you if you have anything less then 64mb of ram, 1038mb of hardrive space, and so far that's it.

NOW there is some hidden manual commands, for example like windows ME where installing below minimum requirements you could use the -nvm command, a similare command excists for windows xp, i cannot remember what it is though.
