Vs90sp1-kb971092 (???)
appears to be an update to the VS2008 ATL libraries (post VS2008 SP1). It is a 373,973 KB file. Is it still relevant given the recent issuance of:
VS90SP1-KB2538241-x86.exe a/o 14 Jun 11 The reason I ask is I'm having a hard time dealing w/that and the recent iteration from MS (also 380MB) from MS. ![]() Neither of those files will verifiy in WinRAR at this time. You must understand VS2008 has been installed on my system since 7 Feb 2010; what's confusing is that KB971092 is no longer readable at this time either. IT MUST HAVE BEEN readable at that time (else VS2008 would be horked, i.e., not intalled). And yet at this time the file can not be verified (by WinRAR). This precipitates my qwexion: is the file even necessary? Can I get away with archiving VS90SP1-KB2538241-x86.exe exclusively? What? Why archive 390 MB of file when its not needed, eh? I've downloaded VS90SP1-KB2538241-x86.exe a billion times (at least). I can extract every single file contained w/in it except the BIG MSI file. WinRAR fails the test of the archive at differing points every time I download a new file. My suspicion is that its a bad host load (on MS side). I've checked my machine w/Prime95 and it passes the first pass (15 minutes on my PIII 1400-S). Do I have to test this bloody diahrea mutlple passes to rule out RAM issues? I'm asking very nicely: could one of you guys download the VS90SP1-KB2538241-x86.exe file from MS and 'test' the archive? PLEASE? I just completed a ton of patches - Patch Tuesday for June 2011 - and they ALL installed w/out hitch. ![]() [i]Dunno. Perhaps the MS supplied patch is extremely susceptible to O/C; I'm running FSB 141 on a PIII 1400 (133) chip; I passed Prime95. I pass the scrutiny of installed memory, so the problem is either MY system, or its MS file.
