XP Pro Shutdown immediate Restart

I'm sure this has been answered but I can't seem to find the right search terms...

XP PRO when I SHUTDOWN the system immediately RESTARTS... I have tried all the simple things like Power Settings in Control Panel but that's not the problem...

Any ideas...? Or please give me a link to known solutions...

Thanks in advance...

Re: XP Pro Shutdown immediate Restart

"Hi,
Try this one.
1)Go to safe mode.
2) My Computer > Properties > Advanced > startup and recovery > system failer (uncheck the box - ""Automatically Restart"").
3) Scan computer for viruses.
4) if not then there may be hardware problem might be RAM or Motherboard.
You can also try this info and then reply.
