Joining E-MAIL

I wanna know how can I share E-MAIL from both of my home computers so that if I check my mail on primary computer and gets downoaded to OE5 folder I would also see it on my secondary computer.And if I checked the mail on my secondary computer it would be downloaded to primary machine's Outlook Express folder

Primary computer is using Outlook Express 5 | Win2k SP4
Secondary computer is using Outlook Express 6 | WinXP SP1

i like to have this info in hand when i want to do mine, anyway, just got it and you can try it on.

Point each of the computers to the mail server at your ISP. Then on one computer go to
"Tools -> Accounts", highlight the email account, select "Properties -> Advanced", and check the box to "Leave a copy of messages on the server". DO NOT check the "Remove from server after X day(s)" box. On the other computer go to "Tools -> Accounts", highlight the email account, select "Properties -> Advanced" and check the box to "Leave a copy of messages on the server". Check the "Remove from server after X day(s)" box and select how many days to leave messages on the server. That way all computers can read the mail, but only one controls when and/or if the messages are actually deleted off of the server.

Note-- This won't work with outgoing email, it will be on the PC you sent in from in the Sent Items folder.

Could you not just share the message store folder on one machine and point to that share point for the location of the second machines email store folder ?

that is usually really hard/tough to do.... Sharring within multi User profiles is a bastard sometimes between machines.... Speacially if you want to use Outlook Express.....

There are different ways of doing this. Go to "TOOLS" and "ACCOUNTS"
Choose the account you want and then click on "PROPERTIES" and then click on the
"ADVANCED" tab. On the bottom there is an option to "Leave a copy of Message on Server" and if you check the box that only removes it from the server if you delete it and empty you deleted items folder, it will make sure it doens't keep downloading later.

If you use a webmail type of service like hotmail or msn mail, all of your email is stored on the server so it goes where you go.

Judas got somes of it already...

OE (Outlook Express)... Nope you can't do that on networked machines.. due to its designed and thats about the Identity, but you can use the store folder mothods for sharing between/among users, and/or mutiple Windows OSes installed on the same machine...we can do import/export the Identity and a few more registries along with the store folder placements.

Yea not just tell OE to leave the messages on the the server and then you can you dl the messages on both pcs

the best you can do (as far as i know of) for networked machines is to make the OEs configs same as my 1st post, then D/Ling msges from servers.. (cannot sharing store folder on local HDD)
