Taskbar in XP stuck in classic mode

I cannot get the default 3d blue and green taskbar back tried everthing.?

Please help Thanks

Rightclick "my computer" and go to properties. click the advanced tab. Click the first settings button. put a dot next to the thing that optimizes for best appearance. Then, rightclick your desktop and click properties and choose the "pretty" theme (looks more ugly than it does pretty to me

)

Cyber, fire up Notepad and paste the following into it (be careful to not copy my sig), and save it as a .REG file. Then double-click on it to add it to the Registry, and, upon rebooting, you should have a PC with those stupid visual effects disabled.

Right click ont he destop and under the apperance tab make sure that the windows XP theme is checked and apply if not.

No that didnt work, i even reinstalled the os to no avail the taskbar will not go back to 3d style green start button with blue taskbar.
I have seen posts on various other forums from people with this problem but no
answers?

Did you format the HDD before installing the OS again? Also these other people did they have the same card/drivers as you?

No i reinstalled the os using the upgrade path.
The other posts didnt specify.
I have installed xp service pack 1 1073.
This problem developed when i deleted the two
registry keys to eliminate for testing purposes on the desktop.
My videocard is a radeon 8500.

ha this ones easy go to control panel, administrative tools, computer management, services and applications, services, look for themes double click, select manual, and press start there you go hope it helps

I have seen posts on various other forums from people with this problem but no answers?

I have installed xp service pack 1 1073. This problem developed when i deleted the two registry keys to eliminate for testing purposes on the desktop. My videocard is a radeon 8500.
