Which Browser?

I'm sure that people have already asked this already, many times before. but I can't be bothered to start trawling through the forum to find out.

What browser do you use and why do you like it so much?

I've just started using Opera and I like it but I'm not convinced yet and may need persuading.

as you will already know(logla) i use ie6 to me it's the most simplistic way.

have tried mozila and were not what i'd prefer.

btopenworld (my isp) has just joined up with yahoo and last month just released there own version and i do not like the way you have to log in every time to receive emails(save login on pc never worked) before anybody asks.

i just like things simple.

i use Internet Explorer and Netscape. I use Netscape because it has a popup blocker built into it, so u have a popup free Browser>

a good pop up killer for ie6.

smart pop-up killer downloaded free from cnet.com is a pretty good one.

also has a cookie manager that enables auto clear with the option to keep selected cookies.

Mozilla Suite, with Tabbrowser and ContextMenu extensions. IMHO, there is no better and more full featured integrated application suite. Also, it starts pretty fast if you enable "Turbo mode".

People usually like Mozilla Firebird better, but I simply prefer the suite.

Opera is great, popo-up blocking no Active-X, secure, fast and easy to use. Skinnable, an overall great browser with a lot you can do with it. I like how transfers stay open in they're own tab and you have alist of downloads, so you can get to em easy if you're like me and they're in random directories/way don the tree sort of thing. Renders pages usually pretty well, some pages built exclusively for IE you're gonna have problems with but who wants to go to those sites anywho?

Yeah, Opera is OK, but I don't like the fact that it loads pure unstyled HTML first and then CSS, so the transition can be seen. I can't believe they haven't fixed that yet.

Mozilla because of the pop-up blocking, tabs, tabbed bookmarking(bookmarks all the pages in that browser window

), and it looks better then IE to me. I get sick of looking at the windows style. I also like some of the downloadable themes for it to bad there weren't more, and the consistent browser updates are also nice so I know any problem I might have now might be gone in the next version, and that has pretty much been the way it has been. The nightly versions of Mozilla also seem to be stable which is a suprise to me. Since most beta's I download don't seem to work that well and nightly's are compiled versions of the current CVS tree(it works most of the time, I have had a few unstable nightly's before).

The very reason I plumped for something else. I've been looking at MS style windows for so long my eyes are starting to bleed.

It's just a shell for IE engine... not really something special.

BTW, in Mozilla you get a choice between "Classic" whindows-like theme, and "Modern" theme (which I prefer).
There are many downloadable too, you will find some you like for sure.

I think that Mozilla is currently the best browser available. I like it because of many skins, excelent security and support for web standards. I also can't live without its tabbed browsing and managers (for popups, passwords and images). There are also other smaller things that you get very used to and only mis them when you don't have Mozilla around. Oh and I like that it is very quickly (within a day) available in my mother language. Even the alpha and beta versions. I also use it for e-mail.

I use IE6 exclusively. I like the fact it looks like an MS windows app. Makes it easier to use IMHO.

I know this is just a shell for IE but I use MY IE2, I get the stability of IE and the benefits of Mozilla.

MyIE2 recently got support for Gecko... but, unfortunately, it's not very good

I have been running Internet Explorer with NetCaptor for years now and it just keeps getting better so I don't feel like switching. Unfortunately NetCaptor made a lot of users turn away by becoming 30-day shareware, but it's now back in the good old "free for home use" status. If I hadn't become so accustomed to using NetCaptor I would probably give MyIE2 another try.

I've been using Mozilla now for a couple of days and I quite like that one, but there are certain features in Opera that I like too. I might have to try to figure out some way to implement similar features from Opera into the Mozilla browser.

Well, I like the way Opera has only one instance of itself open at a time and additional web pages are kept within that one opera window. I also like that in IE, I can type in an address and hit ctrl & Enter to add ".com" to the end of it - so I only actually type "google ctrl-Enter". The other browsers don't seem to be able to do that.
I would also like the google toolbar for mozilla - cant seem to find that.

The only thing I don't like about Mozilla is that it seems to be corrupting my downloads but I ususally just use reget anyway so thats not too much of a problem,

If you want a popup blocker for IE, then just install Google's free toolbar. You get google searches from your toolbar and it blocks on IE pop ups.

I of course use Mozilla most of the time with the built in pop up blocker and I make sure pop ups are allowed on DH for private messages and for any ads to be loaded.

Well with Mozilla tab's will keep all of them in one browser window. The IE with the adding of ".com" well try typing google in the addressbar and then press enter and walah www.google.com is there. no need to type .com or www. because Mozilla will check to find the webpage you are after. Although if there is a www.google.com and google.com google.com will be the page that comes up.

Try another build. I don't know why this would happen as I have never had such a problem.

I can't stand original IE6. In it's naked form, IE6 has way too many popup issues. I add the MYIE2 with its popup killer (not as good as Opera's, but still better than nothing), its mouse gestures and tab functionality.

For my general browsing now, I use Opera because of its superior features to MYIE2. Opera is coming along very nicely, being improved upon regularly. What I don't understand is how they can charge for this browser when it doesn't do what IE6 can..which is: Display pages properly. I know it is not entirely Opera's fault, because IE6 apparently allows sloppier coding than Opera.

To sum up:

Opera for general browsing.
MYIE2 for browsing which Opera doesn't handle properly.

P.S - Screw google bar or anything else.

I just type 'g <search word or phrase here>' in both MYIE2 and Opera and VOILA! Results from Google. Replace the 'g' with 'd' and I get instant definitions for words from dictionary.com

Very to easy to implement for IE and Opera.

The new ie explorer from XP sp2 2205 has a popupblocker too, and ofcause its beta it works verry well.
