URGENT major video instability with win2k

just installed win2k... downloaded a huge ammount of drivers / critical apps (winzip etc) and am in the process of getting my dad's rig up to full functionality.

I installed the Diamond Official WHQL Win2k Drivers, reboot, it starts loading windows... just as the last little square in the progress-bar is filled, automatic reboot. This repeated itself about 3 times before I intervened. Used VGA-mode and the rig is solid but with no graphics...

I'm using AMD 761 chipset with the latest AGP Filter drivers. Don't know what to do here.
I finished downloading SP3 right now but will only install it later on, as I'm at work now.

Will SP3 solve this? I already downloaded the AMD regfix for Win2k from their website... im clueless as to what is causing this.

Any help is very greatly appreciated!

Well, Diamond ain't made a card in ages - might be an idea to get an el cheapo PCI replacement like a Kyro or TNT2 or something that is actually supported well

my com auto reboots just before going into windows ..when i f***ed up the registry. (when using registry fixer or stuff like that). You probably have to use last known good config and reinstall all your stuff

true... BUT the driver is WHQL and fully win2k supported... just some issues with games. The rig is for my dad tho and he won't be playing any... its just that the viper2 was lying around and i don't wanna buy a new card...

well i DID apply an AMD regfix for win2k and amd processors... thought that was meant to help tho...

last known good worked though and i left it in vga mode and went to work ... when i get home tonight ill try again...

Try a clean install with SP3 - it should contain all the fixes you need

unlikely as it happened with the fresh install.

then i put sp3 and still happened.
