Default Post Anyone with XP and Soundblaster Live!

For some reason the newest driver pack for XP (downloaded from http://www.soundblaster.com) is having a small problem. The driver version is not recognized by the device manager, although the driver date is. As a result, I am constantly prompted by Windows Update to download and install an older driver. help would be greatly appreciated! If somebody has a driver pack that works could they send me a link or email it to me? just pm me for my email...thanks again!

Default Post I do...

I do!
I don't have windows update set to automatically update windows, so I don't have this problem. I check for updates manually. I see the file there when I check, but I just don't d/l it. I did try and intall it once, but it wouldn't complete. I guessed it must've been older then what I had.

Don't download the SB drivers off from Windows Update. The drivers that you have now are newer and better. Don't worry of about the driver version not being displayed in Device Manager. If you read the ReadMe, you will see that Creative has listed that as one of the 'Known Issues' with the driverset. Just turn off automatic updating, and just don't download those drivers when you manually update your computer.

I have windows xp, and am using SB Live 5:1.

I have also d/loaded the new drivers and other bits and pieces from creative, and what I did is this, I allow auto update to d/load the files from windows update but have it set to prompt me for insallation, and when the driver for SB live appears I simply uncheck the box for the driver and it does not get installed but still shows up in the d/load history for windows update, so it never prompts me again.

Hope this helps
